It’s Talk Money Week, the campaign that encourages people to be more open about money.
Talk Money Week is run by Money Helper, which has found that people feel awkward talking about money. However, discussing money matters with family or friends, or with financial experts if necessary, can make a big difference to people’s confidence and their financial resilience.
This year Talk Money Week encourages you to ‘Do One Thing’ to improve your financial wellbeing.
There are lots of tips on this website for what this ‘one thing’ could be in relation to saving…
… If you want to get started saving your one thing could be:
- – Stop and take a minute to look at your incomings and outgoings, and assess what you really need
- – Setting yourself a clearly defined savings goal
- – Set up a standing order so that you don’t need to think about putting the money away each week or month
… If you are fortunate enough to have some savings already, you could also:
- – Check the interest rates on your existing savings accounts
- – Put a reminder in your calendar to check how your money is doing in a few months’ time, or just before accounts mature
- – Book a savings review, which many savings providers offer
Whatever it is, do one thing today that works for you and your finances.
Then you can start telling people about it!
