Is number confidence affecting your finances?

It’s National Numeracy Day. This year the campaign is focusing on money.

For many people, part of the reason they find savings and financial matters difficult is that numbers challenging or off-putting for them.

Research from our friends at National Numeracy finds that almost a third of adults want to improve their maths and numeracy skills so that they can get better at managing their money.

The research also showed that over a quarter of people described themselves as “Silent Savers” who don’t want to talk about money.

Psychologist and National Numeracy ambassador Dr Linda Papadopoulos said,

“The research has shown a real mix of confidence when it comes to finance and dealing with money. And confidence is key – this isn’t just about maths; numeracy is all around us in every way. We’re always dealing with numbers in some form in our lives.”

National Numeracy Day is here to help you build your number know-how, so that you can be more comfortable dealing with numbers in everyday life, including your finances.
